Nancy Joe Miller Dillon, born July 28, 1930 in English, West Virginia, passed away on June 15, 2016 at her home where she resided for 60 years. Nancy graduated from Big Creek High School in War, West Virginia and Concord College in Athens, West Virginia with a BS degree in Education. While at a Concord College dance, she met the love of her life, Donald Ray Dillon and they married on September 12, 1954. Nancy Joe Miller was born in English, West Virginia, she grew up in Bartley, West Virginia, attended Bartley Elementary, Big Creek High School, Concord College, married Donald Ray Dillon, moved to War, West Virginia and then moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. before finally settling in Plantation, FL. in October of 1960. Nancy's hobbies included quilting, calligraphy, playing her piano and caring for her beloved pet Codle. Nancy's passion was teaching little children. She loved her church and taught Pre-K there at Plantation United Methodist School for 25 years, before following her good friend to the public school system to teach Head Start at Broadview Elementary. Nancy loved teaching school at her church and Broadview Elementary. She often talked of how Broadview Elementary reminded her of being back home teaching in West Virginia. Oh how she loved McDowell County, West Virginia. Nancy had a special gift when it came to teaching and especially teaching little children. She was nominated as an "outstanding teacher for her special gift with young people" in the Sun-Sentinel in December of 1993. Nancy was a devoted Christian and loved to go to her church at Plantation United Methodist Church. She was active in many areas of the church and was a choir member for many years since the 1960's. Nancy loved her God. She was a devoted wife to Donald Ray for nearly 60 years, a loving mother and dear friend to those who had the privilege to know her. Her sweet, caring and loving presence touched many lives. Nancy Joe Miller Dillon was truly special and her sons were blessed to be able to call her mom. Nancy is survived by her sons, Donald Joe Dillon and Michael Ray Dillon (Ken Dishman), brothers, Dr. James Miller (Wanda) and Roger Miller (Barbara) Aunt Rubye Baldock, niece Jennifer Miller Williams and nephews Dr. Jamie Miller, Jodie Miller and Scott Miller. Nancy's husband Donald Ray Dillon preceded her in death. Mom, life will never be the same without you, and we all thank you for being the special sweet dear lady that you always were. You truly touched many lives and made a difference in a positive way. I Love you mom with all my heart...always, always, always and forever. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV with Rev. Stephen Rector officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV. Friends may call on Friday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Plantation United Methodist Pre School in memory of Nancy Dillon would be appreciated
