Zelma Osborne Bennett

Zelma Osborne Bennett, 100, formerly of Bluewell, WV, peacefully went home to be with The Lord on December 22, 2023 with her daughter by her side.

Born on May 21, 1923 in Whitetop, VA, she was a daughter of the late Bryan and Mary Evelyn Osborne. 

Zelma was a faithful member of Bluewell United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer for many years.  She was also a selfless caregiver to her parents and others throughout her life, having a heart that loved to serve.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Odell; sister, Nola Presley; brother, Raymond Osborne and son-in-law, Everett Frost.

Those left to cherish Zelma’s memory are her daughter, Evelyn Frost of Bluefield, VA; sister, Carol Herald of Princeton, WV; brother, Manuel Osborne of Hooper, UT; two grandchildren, Brad Frost (wife Kristy) of Bedford, VA and Emily Cook (husband Larry) of Morgantown, WV; two great-grandchildren, Shaylee and Rowan; a slew of wonderful nieces and nephews, and her spoiled little dog, Molly.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Bluewell United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Ramey officiating.  Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where Brad Frost, Greg Herald, David McKinney, Michael Osborne, Larry Presley and Jeff Richards will serve as pallbearers with Grady Faulkner and Brandon McKinney recognized as honorary pallbearers.

Friends may call one hour prior to services from 1:00-2:00 PM.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00-8:00 PM.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Dogwood Crossing staff and MSA Hospice for the wonderful, loving care that was given.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that any memorial contributions be made to Bluewell United Methodist Church.
