Winfred Howard Farley

Winfred Howard Farley, 84, of Athens, WV passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital. Born August 30, 1938 in Nemours, WV, he was a son of the late James and Claudia Farley. Winfred retired from the Dye Plant in Bluefield, VA and Flavor Rich. He also loved farming and taking care of cattle.

In addition to his parents, Winfred was preceded in death by his life long partner, Linda Cochran Underwood.

Those left to cherish Winfred’s memory are his sons, James Farley and wife, Kristen of Athens, WV, Skip Farley and wife, Maureen of Alaska, and Mark Farley of Bedford, VA; daughter, Beth Smith and husband, Darrell of Hagerstown, MD; brother, Nathaniel Farley of Florida; sisters, Adeline Bishop of Bluefield, WV, Audean Crawford of Yards, VA, and Lorraine Lewis of Detroit, Michigan; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 AM Monday, April 17, 2023 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor Benny Farley officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where James Farley, Austin Farley, Alec Farley, Devon Farley, Waylon Carter, Ronnie Bailey and Brody Farley will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call prior to services, from 9:30-10:30 AM on Monday.
