William "Uncle Bill" A. Brown

William A. “Uncle Bill” Brown, 89, of Pleasant View Drive, Bluefield, Virginia passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at his residence.
William was born on November 03, 1928 in Washington D.C. to the late William A. Brown Sr. and Elizabeth Brown. William had been a resident of Bluefield, Virginia for the past two and half years and attended the Bluefield Virginia Church of God. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was retired from the United States Government as an electrical engineer.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Lilly Faye Brown and one sister Doris Prender.
William is survived by his sister Catherine Betterman of Florida.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 04, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, West Virginia with Rev. Tony Ellis officiating the service. Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 09, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, Virginia where Larry Thomas “Tommy” Hackney, Jr., Christopher Hackney and Micah Hackney will be serving as pallbearers.
The Browns will be receiving friends and relatives on Thursday, October 04, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
