William Leslie Monk, 71, of Dan Hale Reservoir Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at his home.
Born on August 11, 1949 in Welch, he was a son of the late John and Genevieve Conner Monk. He had been a lifelong resident of WV and was a retired coal miner., He was a US Marine veteran serving in Vietnam and was a member of the Iaeger VFW Post 1144.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother.
Survivors include his wife, Delores England Monk of the home; sons, William (Christina) Monk of Copper Hill, VA and Kevin Allen Monk of Bluefield; grandchildren, Shane, Shannon, Savannah, Ashlee, Abby; and great grandson, Otis Monk; brother, Donald (Charlotte) Monk of Greenville, TN; sisters, Vivian Crance of VA, Joan (Ray) Compton of FL, Janice (David) Patterson, Betty (Clinton) Howard of MD; sister in law, Debra (Walter) Wright; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor Joey Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where military honors will be performed by the Iaeger VFW Post 1144. Chris Kenton, Shane Monk, Brandon Kelly, Randy Patton, Ralph Steele, Harless Collins, Evan Wright, and Michael Thomas will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Monday from 12:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
