William Joseph Crawford

June 4, 1939 — February 10, 2019

William (Bill) Joseph Crawford 79, of Nemours WV was a loving, devoted husband and father that went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on February 10, 2019.

Bill was born in Pocahontas Va on June 4, 1939 and was a lifelong resident of Nemours.

He was the son of the late Wilson and Eva Crawford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Roger and Hampton Crawford.

Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Audean; Daughter, Sonya Morgan and husband John of Bastian Va.; Son, William Jr. (Billy) and wife Diane of Gastonia NC; Brother, Carlos Crawford and wife Wanda of Nemours; Grandchildren, Kristine Morgan Rider and husband of Bastian Va. and Alison Morgan of Gastonia NC.

After attending Bluefield High School he began working at A & P Groceries as a bag boy and continued to progress to become Assistant Manager at Acme Supermarkets for 13 years. After leaving Acme he worked 17 years as a route driver for Flav-O-Rich Dairy. He then worked 2 years for Toms Foods and 10 years at Rocky Top Distributing before retiring at the age of 62. He also worked several extra jobs over the years which included cookie route sales, sign lettering and hauling coal for friends and family.

He was a member of Bramwell Baptist Church for many years. While there he sang and traveled with the Gospel group called The Sunrise Singers that later became known as Homeward Bound. He really enjoyed ministering to people through songs about the Lord. He loved to meet people and anyone that met him knows how much he loved to talk and tell his stories.

His interests included playing the organ, wood working, word search puzzles, watching baseball games.....and most of all he loved his cats Cali and Sugee.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday February 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Pastor Paul Looney officiating. Graveside services will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m..
