William “Bill” Early Cox of Bluefield, WV won his battle with cancer surrounded by his family and a host of loving physicians, nurses, and staff at BRMC on March 6, 2020. Bill was born on July 1, 1949 to Rennie Stafford Brunty and John Cox. Bill was a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 628 in Princeton, WV. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War in 1969-1970. Following serving his country, he was employed by Bluefield, VA Walmart from where he retired.
Bill was preceded in death by both parents, his brother Steve, and the mother of his child and eternal best friend, Donna Cox.
Bill is survived by his only child, Rebecca Kessler and husband Christopher Kessler, one grandson Justin Kessler, Wife Christina, and his favorite little buddy, great-grandson Christopher Key, and his furbaby, Tink, all of the home. One granddaughter, Kyra “Mattie” Kessler, 2 sister-in-laws, Beverly Riffe and Sharon Farley, all of Bluefield, 1 sister, Lisa Brunty and son, PJ, both of Florida. He is also survived by special cousins, Julie and Johnny Francisco of Bluefield, and Bonnie Sue Eddinger and family of Arkansas along with many of his closest comrades from his VVA Chapter.
A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 7:00PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell.
Friends may call on Tuesday prior to services, from 6:00-7:00PM at the funeral home.
