William “Billy” Chilco, 76, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Princeton Community Hospital from complications of Covid-19.
Born on December 20, 1944 in Freeman, he was a son of the late Andrew and Zenith Byrd Chilco. He worked 19 ½ years at National Electric Coil and 11 years at Smith Services in Princeton. He retired in 2008 at the age of 63. He had also served in the National Guard for 6 years.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin Chilco and Michael Chilco and a special nephew, LCPL Carl Ratcliff, who was his good hunting buddy.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy Slone Chilco; 2 daughters, Michelle (Doug) Workman of Princeton, and Wendy (Jimbo) Cundiff of Brushfork; and grandchildren whom he loved with all of his heart, Brooke Cundiff, Blake Cundiff, and Emma Workman; two sisters, Paula (Norman) Hall of Princeton and Beverly (David) Ratcliff; and brother, Ronald (Heidi) Chilco of Greensboro, NC; and several nieces and nephews that he loved.
Because of Covid-19, graveside services only will be conducted on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with his brother-in-law, Rev. David Ratcliff officiating. Jeff Webb, Greg Ratcliff, Eric Ratcliff, Morris Wimmer, Chris Tibbs and Blake Cundiff will serve as pallbearers. Tracey O’Donnell will provide special music. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell on Monday at 11:30 AM. The family requests that masks be worn and social distancing guidelines followed.
