William (Bill) Lee Willis, age 80 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Bluefield Regional Hospital in Bluefield.
He was born on August 11th 1937, in Ashland, WV to Charlie and Julia Willis. He graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in Roanoke, Virginia. On June 27, 1962 he married Christina Ameli Willis where they resided in Bluewell, WV raising two children Sandra Lee Willis Arczynski and William Vincent Willis. Bill worked as a chief electrician for the Ashland Mining Co. and for United Pocahontas Coal Company. He then started a new career at Bluefield Regional Medical Center as project coordinator for Bluefield Regional Medical Center until he retired in 2008. He was a very active member in the Bluewell Volunteer Fire Department where he served as the treasurer for many years until his passing. He was also a member of the Bluewell Lions Club and the Sons of Italy. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he attended for the past 50 years with his family.
He is survived by his Wife Christina Ameli Willis, his daughter Sandra Lee Willis Arczynski and son, William Vincent Willis; his daughter law-in Ruth Gibson Willis, Son in Law John Arczynski, his grandchildren Shelby, Andrew and Mary Lauren Willis, Victoria and Andrew Arczynski; his brother in-law Nick Ameli Jr and his wife Jeanne Ameli. He has several nieces and nephews who he was very close to as well.
For Family and friends whose life was touch by Bill Willis, there is visitation on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Coal Heritage Road, Bluewell WV. A Christian Wake service will be conducted at 7:30 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Sebastian Devasya officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where Andrew Arczynski, Christopher Havens, Dan Ameli, Mike Gibson, Richard Gilpin, and Jim Froy will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Miller, Rick Mathena, Calvin Shoemaker, and Mike Burnopp, Kenny Nunn, and Ted Sadler.
