Wayman A. Lambert, 72, of Anawalt, WV took his heavenly flight on Thursday, October 29, 2020, leaving behind his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Mary (Winebarger) Lambert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Lydia (McPeak) Lambert. He worked for the McDowell County Board of Education where he retired after 32 years of service.
Wayne was a member of Leckie Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was loved and will be missed and where he helped with little jobs at the church. He was known by all the church children as “Papaw Wayne.” His favorite things to do were bear hunting with all his friends, and coon hunting with his buddy, Pete Wooldridge.
Left to cherish his memory are his three sons, Jody and wife, Melissa of Anawalt, WV, Buck and wife, Michelle, of Abbs Valley, VA, and Shannon and wife, Misty of Bluewell, WV; six grandchildren, Kenzie, Lydia, Tyler, Caleb, Nate, and Kailee that he loved spending time with; he also leaves behind one brother, Lewis (June) Lambert of Bluefield, WV, three sisters, Patty Robinson of Martinsville, VA, Barbara (Bobbie) and husband, Johnny of Bluefield, WV, and Nancy (Micki) and husband, Jerry of Bluefield, WV; several nieces, nephews, and many great friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 PM Monday, November 2, 2020 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Jimmy Sanson officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
