Watha French Woody, age 70, of Rocky Gap, VA went to be with the LORD on Friday, June 9, 2017.Born on September 22, 1946 in Bluefield, he was a son of the late Charley and Vinnie Dot Stowers Woody. He had been a lifelong resident of Rocky Gap. He was married to Brenda Cabell Woody on September 25, 1975 in Rocky Gap. He was a stone mason from a very young age and was part of Woody Construction. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the 4th platoon, 3rd battalion, and 1st Brigade. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Olden, Bobby and Sherman Woody who had all resided in Rocky Gap.Survivors include:Wife: Benda Cabell Woody of the homeDaughters: Crystal Sheffler and husband David and their daughter Abigail Sheffler Barbara Click and husband Greg, their son Bradley Click and their daughter Kimberley Click Sons: John Cabell Preston Woody and his son, PJ WoodySister: Phyllis Looney and her lifetime partner Homer MullinsBrother: Raymond Woody and wife Virginia and their daughters, Sheri Spoloric and Karen Kratzer VanmeterHe is also survived by several nieces and nephewsFuneral services will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Paul Looney officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where Military Graveside Honors will be performed by the Mercer County Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Woody, Lonzo Mullins, Lewis Mann, Robert Peak, Raymond Green and John Spoloric. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
