Ward (James) Tibbs, 72, of Bluefield went to his heavenly home on January 17, 2018 after a long illness. Before his illness he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was the former owner of Wings Lounge on Airport Road in Bluefield. He was a member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton and was a former coal miner.
Those preceding Ward in death were his special and devoted “furbaby” Pooper, parents Charles Glenn and Georgia Starling Tibbs, son Jimmy, two brothers Charles and Gene, one grandson and one nephew.
Those left to cherish Ward’s memory are his loving wife of 40 years Linda of Bluefield, sister Sue (Bill) Hughes of Princeton; daughters Sherri (Pete) Hull of Bastian, Terri (Harry) Carter of Princeton; stepchildren Lisa (Billy) Kemplin and Jamie (Cary) Burton of KY; sisters-in-law Nancy (Johnny) Holleman of AL and Elaine Webb of Pageton, 7 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and 6 nieces.
Funeral services will be held at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Rev Jimmy Sanson officiating.
Friends may call on Monday from 12:00-2:00 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
