Walter “Lester” Nance, 72, of Anawalt, WV, passed Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Princeton Health Care Center. Born December 4, 1950, in Welch, WV, he was a son of the late Walter Glenn and Grace Davis Nance.
In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by Sisters, Joann Nance and Madeline Haga; Brothers, Earl, William, Homer, and Kenneth Nance; and Great Granddaughter, Madelyn Brown.
Lester was a graduate of Gary High School and worked as a mechanic in the coal mines, working at Gary #10 Mine, Shawnee #50 and #51 Mine. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding the four-wheeler with his grandchildren. He was full of joy and laughter and had a way of making people laugh.
Those left to cherish Lester’s memory are his Daughters, Leslie Bailey and husband Dwayne of Princeton, WV, and Lesa Nance of Bluefield, WV; Brothers, Billy Joe Nance and Rex Nance; Sisters, Kathy Parnell, Betty Greer, Mary Sue Blevins, Louise Schiebel, and Patricia Goodman; Grandchildren, Sarah Brown and husband Matthew, Robert Jarrells II, and Kyle Bailey; and four Great Grandchildren, Bobby, Waylen, Felicity, and Matylda.
Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, WV, with Rev. Mary Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held, Monday, September 18, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home.
