Vanessa June Hicks

Vanessa June Hicks, 48, of Pecks Mill, WV, passed away of Saturday, March 28, 2020 at her home. Born on March 31, 1971 in Richlands, VA, she was a daughter of Bernard Eugene Bandy, Jr. of Lebanon, VA, and Sheila Gaye Smith of Green Valley, WV. She was a 1989 graduate of the Tazewell High School and had an associate degree in Human Services from 1991 and a 1994 graduate of Bluefield College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and Sociology. In 2009, she received a master’s degree in counseling from Lindsey Wilson College. She was a member of the Chi Sigma Honor Society. She was preceded in death by her step father, Hubert (Bunk) Smith; a brother in law, Mike Hicks, and in laws, Ronald and Staci Hicks. Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband, Shane Patrick Hicks of Logan; stepmother, Jeannie Henderson of Paint Lick, VA; brother, Bernard Eugene (Gene), III of Lebanon, VA; sister in law, Lynn Hicks of Georgetown, KY, and half brother, Justin Bondy of Richlands, VA, sister, Malissa Lockhard Gularson of Davidson, NC; grandchildren, Miyah Hicks, Ayla Hicks, and Luna Hicks of Richlands, VA; step sons, Patrick Hicks of New Mexico and Christopher Hicks and wife Patricia of Richlands, VA; sister in law, Kim Layne and a brother in law Dolf Davis; special friend, Chris Owens; and her fur babies. Memorial services will conducted a at later date.
