Vada Mae Sharrone

Vada Mae Sharrone, 75, of Thornton Ave., Princeton, West Virginia passed away on Tuesday, May 08, 2018 at her home following a long illness surrounded by her entire loving family. Vada was born on April 13, 1943 in Jesse, West Virginia to the late John B. Shumate and Bessie Cline Shumate. She had been a resident of Princeton for the past 13 years and was a retired LPN. She served her country proudly in the United States Navy as a nurse. Vada was a Graduate of Oceana High School and she enjoyed cooking, crocheting and tending to her flower gardens. Above all, she enjoyed large gatherings with her family that included lots of homemade food and laughter. She was known for her giving nature as well as her acceptance and welcoming attitude to everyone who came through her door. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Sharrone; two brothers Thurman and Chester Shumate. Left to cherish her memory one son Victor Santiago and wife Solina of Hendersonville, North Carolina; three daughters Michelle Crigger of Princeton, West Virginia; Tanya Santiago and Companion Drema of Kimball, West Virginia and Victoria Lilly and husband Wyatt of Princeton, West Virginia. As well as an very close “adopted” family member Courtney Evans and husband Danny of Bluefield, Virginia. Two brothers Mason Shumate of Florida and John Shumate, Jr. of Joshua, Texas and one sister Anna Lifsey and husband Jerriel of Carencro, Louisiana. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Joshua Santiago, Dionne McKinney, Kris Parker, Ginni Hopper, Zachary Green, Sarah Stamper and four great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. The family would like to thank all of the medical staff at Dr. Khokar’s office as well as Amedisys hospice for the wonderful care they gave our mother. Graveside rites will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, West Virginia with Rev. Jim Coe officiating. The Mercer County Veterans Council will be conduction military graveside rites. Serving as pallbearers will be Victor Santiago, Sr., Victor Santiago Jr., Brian Hopper, Kris Parker, Wyatt Lilly and Zachary Green. The family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 pm at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia.
