Troy Finney, 91, of Red Oak Ridge Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at English Meadows in Christiansburg, VA.
Born on October 11, 1928 in Keystone, WV, he was a son of the late Stafford and Nola Green Finney. He had been a lifelong resident of Bluefield and attended the Deliverance Temple in Brushfork. He was a retired coal miner with 38 years at Eastern Coal Association and was a member of the UMWA. He was a veteran of the US Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Louise York Finney; and three children, Edward Finney, Ricky Finney, and Sandy Finney.
Survivors include his four sons, Matthew (Ashley) Finney of Max Meadows, VA, David (Gennett) Finney of Bluefield, WV, Troy Mark Finney of Drexel, NC, and Darrel Blane Finney of Drexel, NC; 27 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Finney of Roanoke, VA and Earnest Finney of Roanoke, VA; niece, Teresa Hall and nephews, Keith, Allen and Craig Dills, all of Huntington.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Randy Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with grandsons serving as pallbearers. The Mercer County Veteran's Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
Friends may call on Sunday evening from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
