Thomas "Tommy" Dewey Matney, age 69 of Princeton WV, passed away on March 17th in Bristol TN.
Tommy was born in Ieager, WV to Kennis and Lou Jane Matney on 10/31/1948. He was married to Dinah Lynn Matney (Bailey) on March 31st 1973 in Grundy VA. He was a Vietnam Veteran with the US Army and earned medals in National Defense Service & Rifle Sharpshooter. He also specialized as a tank operator and gunner. Upon returning home Tommy worked as a coal miner in Premier & Hanover WV.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Thurman, James and Dreama Matney.
Tommy is survived by wife Dinah and his four children, Ginger Matney, Chandra Dyson, Dee Nunn and Christopher Matney. His 5 grandchildren include Haley Duncan, Carter & Clara Nunn and Wyatt & Gianna Matney. Siblings include Riley, Bobby, Fred, Johnny, Tony, Nellie, Brenda and Pricey.
Tommy will be greatly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren and we rejoice in seeing him again when we are called home.
The family of Tommy wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to Woodlawn Church, Bluefield First Church of the Nazarene and our close family and friends that have supported and prayed for us.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday March 21st at 11:00 am at Bluefield First Church of the Nazarene located on Stadium Dr. in Bluefield, WV. There will be no funeral or burrial services, only the memorial service at the church.
