Steven Vendel Valach, age 48, of Anawalt, WV completed his journey here on Earth to meet with his Savior in Heaven on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, after a long battle with leukemia.
Born on March 19, 1971, in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of Robert Vendel Valach and Mary Dallas (Cox) Valach.
Steven was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. One of his favorite past times was spending time in the mountains of McDowell County hunting ginseng and mushrooms. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards, racing motorcycles, riding 4-wheelers, watching the Wild Life channel and spending countless hours on the phone with his friends. Most of all, he treasured spending time with his older brother Joe on his farm. He was of the Protestant Faith.
Steven worked for CLM Trucking Company as a truck driver, in McDowell County, for several years before moving to Alabama. While in Alabama he worked at the Jim Walter Resources Mine, in Tuscaloosa, as a coal miner for 12 years.
He was preceded in death by one brother Joshua Valach; paternal grandparents Joseph and Lois Valach; maternal grandparents Donald and Velma Cox; one nephew Jayden Valach; and special friend George Harman.
Throughout his battle with cancer, Steven displayed amazing strength, a courageous heart and a made-up mind. His illness was tough, but his determination to live was unwavering and it was an inspiration to all around him. He accelerated at many things in life, but his greatest achievement came when he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
