A flame that once burned so bright, flickered once and, then went out.

Stephen Curtis Arnold, 49, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina departed this life on Sunday, June 09, 2019 with his family by his side.

Steve was born on Sunday, November 30, 1969 in Bluefield, West Virginia to Jo Imogene “Pat” Nester Arnold of Bluefield, West Virginia and the late Clifford H. “Bud” Arnold.

Steve was a graduate of Bluefield High School, Class of 1988, where he played football, as kicker and he also played baseball. Steve went on to attend Guilford College where he played on the football team. Upon returning home Steve tried his hand at selling cars. He loved the challenge of making a sale as well as new friends. Locally he was employed by Andy Clark Ford as well as Erocoline Nissan. When Steve moved to North Carolina he worked at Everhart Honda, eventually managing their used car lot in Statesville, North Carolina. Steve’s last employment was with Jim Hudson Toyota in Irmo, South Carolina. Steve was a member of Edgmont Baptist Church in Bluefield and at an early age accepted Jesus Christ as his savior.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a loved and supporting brother Edward Wayne Arnold.

Steve is survived by his mother, Pat Arnold of Bluefield, West Virginia; One brother, Clifford H. Arnold, III and wife Beth of Lawndale, North Carolina; his fiancée, Daphn O’Connell of the home; his loving niece, Leslie Renee Patton and husband Jimmy of Princeton, West Virginia; four nephews, Jason Kevin Arnold and wife Nancy of Shelby, North Carolina, Aaron Keith Arnold and wife Kelly of Shelby, North Carolina, Christopher Nicholas Arnold and wife Hannah of Gray, Tennessee and Chad Michael Arnold and wife Claire of Charlotte, North Carolina. One very special aunt, Learlene Nester Baker of Bluefield, West Virginia who loved him like a son. Several other aunts and uncles along with many cousins.

In accordance with Stephen’s wishes he was cremated and a memorial graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia on Monday, July 01, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Ken Owens officiating the service. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery in the Last Supper Garden by 11:00am.
