Stanford Tony Allen

Stanford Tony Allen, Jr., 70, of Maybeury, WV, passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 at Charleston Area Medical Center.  Born July 11, 1949 in Welch, WV, Tony was a son of the late Stanford Allen, Sr. and Hazel Williams Cooper.  Tony was a coal miner and a United States Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam and was in the 1^st Air Calvary Division.  He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the United Mine Workers.

In addition to his father, Tony was preceded in death by his sister, Veronia Spriggs and a brother, Freddie Allen.

Those left to cherish Tony’s memory are his children, Brian Dodson of Columbus, OH, Dawn Holloman and husband, Jeffrey of Columbus, OH, and Kimberly Persiani-Boone and husband, Demetre of Princeton, WV; step-son, Greg Dodson of Columbus, OH; step-daughter, Toni Dodson of Columbus, OH; four brothers, Johnnie Williams and wife, Rhonda of Bluefield, WV, Robert Williams of Bluefield, WV, Samson Williams and wife, Diane of Detroit, MI, and David Cooper and wife, Michelle of Princeton, WV; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor Timothy Hairston officiating.  Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park where nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.  Mercer County Honor Guard will be conducting graveside rites.
