Our precious and loving mother, Sarah Ellen Dinger, 92, of Bluefield, WV, went to join her Heavenly Father on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Princeton Community Hospital. She told her children she was going to see their Daddy.
Sarah lived in Bluefield most of her life, was a homemaker, and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Bluewell. As a young girl of 12 years old she found herself the oldest of seven when her mother died, forcing her father to put them into an orphanage. Sarah lived in the Salem Baptist Orphanage home approximately 4 years; then was brought home to her father and stepmother.
Marrying the love of her life, they lived on the family farm where they raised their 5 children. She helped with the garden and other chores as she canned and put meat up for her family.
Sarah loved her children and was very devoted to them. She also loved to travel, if anyone suggested a trip, her bags were packed, and she had jokes for the ride. Sarah was a wonderful grandmother, from the oldest to the youngest they speak of her love, warmth, and home-cooked meals.
She didn’t leave this world without being a virtuous woman and teaching her children and family about her love for God.
In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hassel Dinger; three brothers and one sister.
Those who are left to cherish Sarah’s memory are her daughters, Ronda Dinger of Bluefield, WV, and Sandra (Eddie) Cochran of Bluefield, WV; sons, Donald (Connie) Dinger of Bluefield, WV, Michael (Cindy) Dinger of Bluefield, WV, and Gerald (Keisha) Dinger of Bluefield, WV; brother, Frank Nester of Jacksonville, FL; sister Janet Gorden of Princeton, WV; 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, December 9, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Bluewell, WV with Rev. James Milam and Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery in Green Valley where grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
