She was preceded in death by her father James Washington Ratliff and mother Mildred Lucinia Sadler, her brothers James Randall and Benny Ray Ratliff, her son Shawn Andrew Prasatek and daughter Alesha Dawn Prasatek. She is survived by her son John Prasatek (Elise Uzmack) of Myrtle Beach, SC, her fiancé Terry Watkins of Princeton, WV, her sisters June Ratliff Pickett (Tony) of Princeton, WV and Mildred Ratliff Gillespie of Lorton Lick Road, her seven grandchildren Jonathan Spicer, Shawn Prasatek, Dakota Prasatek, Damian Prasatek, Amira Prasatek, Trevor Morris, Isabella Prasatek, and two great-grandchildren Kamryn & Jaxon Prasatek, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Sandra, “Mama Sandy” to all of her adopted kids will be greatly missed and always cherished. We will miss hearing her say “Love your heart”. She was a self-taught piano player, talented singer and friend to everyone she met. She spent much of her life in West Virginia close to most of her family. She was young when she began singing gospel with her family on the radio and in church. She spent later years of her life playing live music in a band and singing karaoke. She loved flip flops, pocket books, nail polish, antiques, jewelry and fancy clothes. She loved all animals, but especially her cats! She never held a grudge and would do anything for her friends and family with a smile on her face. She was always quick to give hugs and tell you that she loved you.
Due to the current restrictions on social gatherings the family has decided to proceed with a private arrangement. They will be scheduling a celebration of life later in the summer to gather friends and family that want to pay respects and remember Sandy. They intend to have karaoke and a potluck of Sandy’s favorite foods to share.
