Ruth Surratt

Ruth Lauretta Blevins Surratt,88, of Bluewell passed away on Tuesday, August 6 at Bristol Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Mrs. Surratt was born on December 28, 1930 in Elizabethton, TN to Emmett and Sarah Blevins. She graduated from Welch High School in 1949 and was an employee of GC Murphy until her marriage in 1950 to Cecil Walker Surratt. She worked as a school secretary at Montcalm Elementary school for over 25 years. Mrs. Surratt was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Bluewell.

Mrs. Surratt is survived by her son Tom (Karen), grandson Christopher(Kristen), granddaughter Kristen, and granddaughter Bethany(Josiah), all of Nashville, TN.

She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Surratt, parents Emmett and Sarah Blevins, grandson Jonathan Michael Surratt, and brothers James, Johnny, and Jimbo Blevins.

A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in Princeton on August 10 at 1:00 PM, followed by a brief memorial ceremony and fellowship time at 2:30 at First Baptist Church of Bluewell. The graveside service will be officiated by Rev. Jim Milam.

Family and friends who would like to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell at 12:30 PM for the procession.
