Ruth E. Hopkins, 88, of Roanoke, VA and formerly of Bluewell, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Raleigh Court and Rehab Center in Roanoke.Born on April 29, 1929 in Marytown, she was a daughter of the late Vent Elbert and Jessie Grant Hopkins. She graduated from Welch High School with a state certificated in distributed education. She was employed by F.W. Woolworth in Welch until the store closed. She then worked for S&M Market in Welch, and DeHart’s Cash Grocery in Davy before changing to Wardens Market in Bluewell, where she retired in the late 1970’s. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles traveling and mowing grass.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Hopkins and Blanche Akers; and brothers, Elmer and Kermit Hopkins. Survivors include:Her sister: Louise Warden and husband T.A. “Buddy” Warden of Blacksburg, VA Several nieces and nephewsGraveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with Minister Tony Reed officiating. Burial will follow.
