Ruth Gail Belcher

Ruth Gail Johnson Belcher, 69, of Welch, WV, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Princeton Community Hospital following a brief illness.

Born on April 5, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Elsvan and Albenia Crigger Johnson. She was a 1969 graduate of Northfork High School. She was a longtime Christian and one of her biggest joys in life was attending church and fellowshipping with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She loved her church family very much. She married William “Frank” Belcher on February 28, 1971 and he preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Franklin Belcher; brothers and Richard and Charles; and sisters, Mae, Shelby, Betty, Linda, and Sheila.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Joyce Barrett, husband Jeffery, and grandson, Ethan Barrett of Belcher Mountain, Welch, WV; brother, Elsvan Belcher, Jr. of Princeton; sisters, Cecil Sheaves, of Waynesboro, VA, Barbara Woods of Brushfork, WV, Brenda Johnson of Brushfork, WV, Ethel Davis and husband Dale of Nemours, WV, and Carol Johnson of Princeton; brothers and sisters in law, Mary Rose of Welch, Wanda Dalton of Welch, Hersie Belcher and lifelong friend Judy of Welch, Clarence Belcher and Connie of Bluefield, WV; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends Patty and Dennie Bishop.

Due to Covid-19 concerns, private graveside services will be conducted for the family on Sunday, December 6, 2020 with Elder Roger Walker and Brother Hersie Belcher officiating. A celebration of her life will be held in the springtime and will be announced later by the family.
