Russell Clarence Turner

Russell Clarence Turner, 95, of Bluefield, West Virginia went home to be with his Lord on Sunday afternoon, December 26, 2021, at his home with his loving family at his side. Born November 24, 1926, in Tams, WV, he was the son of the late William Turner and Myrtle Robert’s Turner. RC was born to preach the word and this was demonstrated through his strong dedication, hard-working ethic, and attention as pastor in numerous churches he ministered for throughout the Virginia and West Virginia Conferences of the IPHC. He was a positive role-model to everyone who knew him. He loved his family and would put the needs of others over himself. He was a people person and genuinely cared about them. He loved Jesus, especially, always striving to share that love with everyone. RC never met a stranger. He would go out of his way to speak or get to know you. In 2002, he decided to retire with over 50-years in the ministry.

He was preceded in death a sister, Lois Blevins and her husband Howard; and a bother in law, Robert Sutphin. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 67-years, Melieve Linkous Turner, and three children, John Daniel Turner, of Bluefield, WV, James Paul Turner and wife Vanessa Seabolt Turner of Bluefield, WV, Deborah Elizabeth Turner, of Bluefield, WV, two granddaughters, Sarah Allison Turner Rodgers and husband Jameson Rodgers, of Nashville, TN, Kristen Rebecca Turner Miller and husband Aaron Miller of Lashmeet, WV; a sister, Alice Ruth Sutphin of Blacksburg, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV, on January 3, 2022, at 2:00pm with Rev. Jerry Novell officiating.
