Ruby Irene Mitchem

Ruby Irene Wright Mitchem, 97, of Asheboro, North Carolina formerly of Browning-Lambert Mountain passed away Saturday, November 04, 2017 at her residence. Ruby was born on January 24, 1920 in Rock, West Virginia to the late Marvin C. Wright and Hattie Shrader Wright. She had been a resident of Asheboro, North Carolina for the past thirty two years.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Burbridge E. Mitchem; one daughter Karen Mitchem; son in law Douglas Roten Jr.; four brothers Harold, Bernard, Buddy, Leroy and one sister Iris Bailey. Ruby was the last surviving member of her immediate family.Left to cherish her memory are her eight children James Mitchem and wife Darlene of Staunton, Virginia, Colin Mitchem and wife Diane of Asheboro, North Carolina, Gerald Mitchem and wife Terry of Bluefield, West Virginia, Larry Mitchem and wife Teresa of Asheboro, North Carolina, Janet Culbertson and husband Steve of Fort Myers, Florida, Rhonda Mitchem of Asheboro, North Carolina, Diane McKinney and husband Mike of Bluewell, West Virginia and Beverly Roten of Bluewell, West Virginia. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 08, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield (Bluewell), West Virginia with Rev. Keith Hudson officiating the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia where friends and relatives will be serving as pallbearers. The Mitchem family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, November 08, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home.
