Roy S. Underwood, 84 of Bluefield WV passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at his home after a two year battle with melanoma. Roy was born in Bluefield, WV on September 22, 1932; he was the son of Roscoe and Alice Bailey Underwood. Roy served in the Korean War with the Army Corp of Engineers. He worked as a Master Mechanic at Worldwide Equipment in Princeton until his retirement in 1995. Roy attended The Church of God of Prophecy in Bluefield and was a life member of the NRA, an avid fisherman and gardener. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three siblings; Arnold Underwood, Marvin Underwood and Lorraine Perdue. Roy is survived by his wife Margaret Wimmer Underwood; daughter Lisa Underwood and partner James Fisher all of Bluefield; sister Juanita Adamczyk of Taunton MA; many beloved nieces and nephews; his best friend of 80 years Ben Bowling as well as his grand dog Jager.Funeral services will be held for Roy on Wednesday, July 05, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV with Sister Verna Seager and Brother Pete Eden officiating the service. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Bluefield, WV where Garland Aliff, Justin Duncan, James Lear, Donnie Bailey, Kelly Duncan and Brian Aliff will be serving as pallbearers. Graveside military rites will be conducted by The Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
