Roy "Sonny" Donald Poe

Roy Donald "Sonny" Poe, 82, Mack Road, Bluefield, WV passed away September 18 in Asheboro, NC.  Roy was the son of the late B.B. (Jack) Poe and the late Nada Lamie Poe.  He was a welder, being employed at Lecco, Coppinger’s, and Eimco, and was a member of Brushfork Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, uncle, nephew, and cousin and was a devoted Christian, known for his kindness.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Lois Poe, brothers Charles and Bill Poe, and daughter-in-law Jill Poe. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vangie Johnson Poe, two sons Donald Poe and Keith Poe of Asheboro, NC, daughters Pamela (Travis) Delp of Asheboro, NC and Kay (Michael) Ball of Bluefield, WV, granddaughters Angela (Michael) Boone of Siler City, NC and Annabeth Poe of Asheboro, NC, great-granddaughters Emorie and Aubrey Boone of Siler City, NC, brothers Russell (Ann) Poe and Roger (Cathy) Poe of Bluefield, WV and Jack (Frances) Poe of Bastian, VA, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews. Viewing will be Thursday, September 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Funeral services will be Friday, September 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, Bluefield, WV with the Reverend Wes Lambert officiating, assisted by Shawn Bragg.  In lieu of flowers,donations can be made to Brushfork Baptist Church, 2510 Old Bramwell Road,  Bluefield, WV 24701.
