Roy Harold Murphy

Roy H. Murphy, age 67, of Glenwood, WV, went home to be with the LORD on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Princeton Community Hospital.

Born on June 28, 1941 in Adamsville, Ohio he was a son of the late Charles W. and Dorothy Kasper Murphy. He had lived in Glenwood for the past 6 years before moving from Maybeury where he had lived for 34 years. He had retired from R & S Coal Company where he had worked for 28 years and was a member of UMWA 6196. While living in Maybeury he attended the Maybeury Church of God where he returned and visited with his brothers and sisters in the LORD that he loved so dearly. He was currently attending the First Church of the Nazarene in Princeton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret A. Romine.

Survivors: His devoted wife and soul mate of 43 years, Carol Simpson Murphy of the home; Son: Tommy L. Murphy of Princeton, WV; Daughter and Daddy’s Girl: Tina L. Harless and husband Kevin of Peterstown, WV; Brothers: Charles “Sonny” Murphy and wife Jean of Zanesville, OH; Paul Murphy and wife Lynn of Frazeysburg, OH; Sister: Mary Ball and husband Jerry of Nashport, OH; Step-grandchildren: Benjamin and Joseph and a host of nieces and nephews

He was cherished and loved by Carol’s family who thought of him as their own rather than an in-law.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. Rev. Jeff Beckett, Rev. Ronald Miller, and Rev. Olen Robertson will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where his nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
