Roy Mitchell Jones

Roy Mitchell Jones, age 95, of Radford, VA, formerly of Coalwood, WV, died on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at his home.

Born on July 11, 1923, in Coalwood, WV, he was a son of the late Cleve and Sarah Dalton Jones. He had lived in Coalwood for 94 years of his life and was a retired coal miner with 45 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. He was also a member of the UMWA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers,4 sisters, and a great-grandson, Matthew Stamper.

4 grandchildren: Angela Caldwell and husband Joseph, Matthew Hicks and wife Jennifer, Jackie Stamper and wife Mary, Robert Stamper and wife Charlotte

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Ted Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard will be performing Military Graveside Honors. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Stamper, Jackie Stamper, Derek Stamper, Joseph Caldwell, Tommy Jones, and Matthew Hicks. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
