Roger Lee Belcher, Sr.

December 13, 1943 — April 10, 2025

While surrounded by his loving family, Roger Lee Belcher Sr. entered his heavenly home on April 10, 2025, at the age of 81. Roger was first and foremost a devoted husband, loving father, precious grandfather and great grandfather, and a genuine friend. Roger was a talented man and wore many hats. He entered the workforce as a mining electrician at Turkey Gap, and later went on to start his own construction company, Belcher’s Contractors. However, his one true passion was gardening. His green thumb helped him to produce more food than his family could even eat. Roger loved to share what he had grown with others and made sure that no one went hungry. If vegetables were found on your front porch, you instantly knew that they had come from Roger and his abundant garden. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and caring wife of 61 years, Joy Ann Faw Belcher, his sister Geraldine “Gerri” Owens, his son Roger Jr. and wife Debbie, daughter Pam & husband Eddie, son-in-law Mark, six grandchildren: Chad and wife Bekah, Brooke and husband Blake, Chelsea, Payten and husband Kodey, Emaleigh and husband Cody, and Seth; two great grandchildren, Kaeson Lawson and Bodhi Buckner, and four more great grandchildren to be born this year. Roger is preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Naomi Belcher, his four brothers, Ernie, Junior, Wayne, and Bobby, one sister, Darlene Stanley, and his loving daughter who he spoke of often, Robin Gallinger. Services will be held at Craven-Shires in Bluewell on April 16, 2025 with visitation beginning at 10:00. Gary Lamie will be officiating the service which will start promptly at 11:00 with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Pall bearers include Chad Louthen, Seth Belcher, Kodey Lawson, Cody Goins, Mark Davis and Lee Poff. Roger will always be remembered for his compassion and love for others. To honor his memory, in leu of flowers, the family asks that a donation is made to the St. Jude organization in Roger’s name.
