Robert Roger Patterson

Robert Roger Patterson, 80, of Freeman, WV, went to be with the lord on November 21, 2023 at the home of his loving daughter in Floyd VA.

He was born on July 10,1943 in Mayberry WV to the late Bruce and Pearl Patterson. Roger was raised with four brothers who have since proceeded him in death and one sister in the same home he still owns today. Roger married Paula Sue Faulkner Patterson on January 8, 1962 with whom he shared many wonderful years and memories together. He worked for US Steel for over forty years at various coal mines and was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America. Roger will be remembered for many things but for his girls some of the most significant are the morals and values taught them by their daddy. He was a man of old fashioned values that lived his life by a man's word and handshake was his honor. He was a man of great faith and never ended a phone call with his loved ones without telling them God  loves you, Lord Jesus Christ loves you and I love you.

He is survived by daughters Teresa Sue Wilson and husband Troy of Floyd VA. Elizabeth Ann Lee husband James of Ada OK. Grandson Robert Alan Lee wife Samantha of Fort Riley KS. Granddaughters Marina Blakley Spence husband Michael of Floyd VA. Isabella Lee of Ada OK. Summer Bell of WV ,and grandson James Robert Lee of Ada OK. He was blessed to have 8 great grandchildren as well as lifelong family friend David Cook. In addition to his parents and brothers he is proceeded in death by wife Paula "Polly" Patterson, son Leslie Roger "Dusty" Patterson, grandson John Michael Sampson and great grandson Jacob Cartwright.

Funeral services will be conducted at Cravens-Shires funeral Chapel in Bluewell on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Don Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
