Robert "Bob” Winton Eanes, 70, of Marellen Avenue, Bluefield, WV, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at his home after a bout of cancer, heart disease, and lung problems.Born on October 3, 1947, in Sophia, WV, he was a son of the late Walter G. and Elizabeth E. Hill Eanes. He had been a resident of Bluefield for most of his life and was a mechanic for 24 years working at Arnold’s Garage, Goodyear, and Appalachian Tire. He was a veteran of the US Marines and served 22 months in Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart Medal of Honor after his service. He was also an active member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Vietnam Veterans of America, and he was a life member of the DAV.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Donna Chafin; stepson, Jerry Harmon; 2 brothers, Kerry Eanes and Jerry Eanes; and 2 sisters, Helen Weaver and Betty AngellSurvivors include:Wife: Shirley Taylor Eanes of the homeSon: Eric Eanes of Wytheville, VADaughter: Joyce Eanes of Bluefield5 grandsons and 3 granddaughters2 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughterStepson: Rusty Harmon of the homeStepdaughters: Melissa Harmon of Pearisburg, VA and Sherry Shrewsberry of BluefieldBrother: James Eanes of Aiken, SC12 nieces and nephewsSpecial son in law: Garnett (Buck) Chafin of Nashville, TNMemorial services will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Darren Smith officiating. The Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard will perform Military Honors.
