Rita Doreen Nester

Rita Doreen Nester, 64, of Larch Street, Bluefield, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2019 at her home after a long battle with cancer with her family by her side.

Born on August 3, 1954 in Bluefield, she was a daughter of the late James William McFarland Sr. and Juanita Geraldine Lambert McFarland. She had been a lifelong resident of Bluefield and was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James William McFarland, Jr.

Survivors include: husband, David Nester of the home; daughter, Melissa Ann Proffitt of the home; two step-sons, Jacob Nester of Bluefield, VA, and Cody Nester of Montcalm; step-daughter, Brittany Scott of Bluefield, VA; three grandchildren; and three sisters, Jean McFarland (Michael) Grubb of Bluefield, VA, Sarah McFarland (Tony) of Johnson City, TN; Dolly Epperson of Bluefield, WV.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Don Dinger officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Monday from 10:00-11:00 at the funeral home.
