Richard “Dickie” Wayne Barber, 68, of Bristol, Virginia formerly of McDowell County, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tennessee.
Richard was born on October 03, 1951 in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late Ernest Glen Barber, Sr. and Geneva Pearl Shafter Barber.
Richard had been a resident of Bristol, Virginia for the past three years and was a graduate of Welch High School and a graduate of Marshall University. Richard was a retired school teacher, teaching in McDowell and Mercer County for over 20 years. He was a creative person who enjoyed science, puzzles, traveling and being outdoors.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Jerry Barber.
Richard is survived by his daughter Stephanie Dillon and husband Donald of Princeton, West Virginia; two grandsons, Mason and Jaxson Dillon of Princeton, West Virginia. Brothers, Earnest Glen Barber Jr. of North Carolina and William Scott Barber of Florida.
Memorial service will be held for Richard on Friday, January 03, 2020 at 7:00 pm at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Farmer officiating the service.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, January 03, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
