Randolph Harman Sexton

Randolph Harman Sexton was born on December 7, 1928 and passed away at the age of 91 on June 27, 2020, surrounded by his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents Mason and Bertha Sexton; brothers and their wives, Reginald (Delilah, Kathleen) Ray (Red) and Frank (Ruth); sisters-in-law Betty and Dorothy; and parents-in-law, Bill and Pansy Neal.  

Born and raised in Bramwell, WV, Harman was the youngest of four sons.  He was a Bramwell High School and Bluefield College alumnus, a proud Korean War Veteran and a lifelong member of the Bramwell Methodist Church.  

Harman began his 44-year career as a draftsman with Pocahontas Fuel Company, which was later acquired by Consolidation Coal Company.  He was an avid history buff, especially pertaining to Bramwell and the coalfields.  Harman designed a coin for the Bramwell Centennial Celebration.  Gardening, tackling home repair projects, and working Suduko puzzles were among his favorite hobbies.  He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews for the "pull-off-your-thumb" magic trick.  

Harman is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lois, who spoiled him greatly (thank you, Mom); dear daughters Lisa and Karen (we adored you, Daddy); son-in-law, Joe, and his son, Scott, and grandchildren Sophie, Livi and Sam; brother-in-law, Ted Yost; and many special nieces and nephews.   

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastors Melissa White and Jay VanReenen officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call one hour prior to time of service.  Those wishing to attend the service are encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.cravens-shires.com.
