Randolph "Randy" Gibson

Randolph “Randy” Gibson, 88, of Cooper Street, Bramwell, WV, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at his home.

Born on December 12, 1932 in Maybeury, WV, he was a son of the late Robert Duke Gibson Sr., and Willa Little Gibson. He had been a resident of Bramwell for 54 years and attended Deliverance Temple in Brushfork. He was a veteran of the US Marines.  He was one of the original founders of the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard and was the current commander. Randy had been involved in more than 1000 military funerals. Randy dedicated numerous holiday seasons to Toys for Tots.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Walker Gibson of the home; son, Randy Dean (Sabrina) Gibson of Bluefield; daughter, Willa Faith (Jeff) Cornett of Durham, NC; grandchildren, Jamie Jenkins, Travis Proffitt Seth Gibson , Tyler Gibson Asbury; great grandchildren, Austin Jenkins Keenan Jenkins John Gibson, Vivian Gibson,  Lexi Proffitt, and Jacob Proffitt; Joshlyn Asbury; great-great grandchild, Carter Jenkins; special friend and neighbor, Sissy Williams and a very special sister in law, Daisy Walker.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. David Kirby and Martin Furrow officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors.

Friends may call on Sunday prior to services, from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Toys for Tots or Union Misson.
