Doris Pauline “Polly” Blevins, 80, of Rock Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

Born on December 20, 1938 in McComas, she was a daughter of the late Pelby and Margaret Perdue Poff. She was the former vice-president of the Rock District Improvement Corporation and she had a love for the Community Christmas Tree program. She was a member and past worthy matron of the Rock Chapter and the Bluefield Chapter #66 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was retired from Mercer County Schools. Along with her husband, Polly was an avid bowler until health issues forced her to quit. She loved gardening and working with her husband and spent every minute of the day taking care of James. She never accepted his death. They enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and loved to sit in the garage with James and watch the squirrels fight for food. They enjoyed feeding the ducks and watching the hummingbirds. She was a member of the Mountain Grove Community Church and was 1956 graduate of Bramwell High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Blevins, who passed on January 22, 2016; an infant brother, Larry Wayne Poff; brothers, Freddie and Randall Poff; and Mary Jane Perdue and Robert and Nancy Poff.

She is survived by her daughter Jamie Blevins and husband Robert Stowers of Middlesex, NC; sister, Sharon Poff Brooks and husband Chip of Rock, WV and Charleston, SC; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Wayne Saunders and Minister Jack Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Sunday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain Grove Community Church, 251 WJE Place, Bluefield, WV 24701 or the Maggie Society Abel Cat Rescue, Laura Ranse; A Place for Paws, c/o Brandywine Veterinarian Hospital; 4506 Nash Street, Wilson, NC 27896.
