Peggy Ann Miller Akers, 91, of Sandlick Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born on April 2, 1930 in Gary, WV, she was the daughter of the late Emmett K. and Ony L. Hall Miller. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bluewell where she enjoyed singing in the choir and being the WMU Director for many years. She was a homemaker who enjoyed decorating her home and the church for many special occasions. She also loved planting flowers and her red birds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grant U. Akers; a brother, Max Snead; sister in law, Jessie Snead; and a special niece, Nancy Snead.
Survivors include her son, Edward (Patty) Akers of Bluefield, WV; and grandchildren, Thomas Akers of Selbyville, DE, and Marie (Matt) Collins of Princeton, WV.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. James Milam officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell with Tom Akers, Matt Collins, Dave Lyons, Allan Harbour, Richard Bailey and Delbert Bailey serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to The First Baptist Church of Bluewell at 189 Pinnacle View Road, Bluefield, WV 24701.
