Patsy Jo Welch

Patsy Jo Welch, 75, of Bluefield, VA passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was a resident of Bluefield for 32 years. Born November 30, 1947 in Pocahontas, VA, she was a daughter of the late James J. Lawson and Hester Byrd Moore.  She attended Pocahontas High School and was a retired cosmetologist. Patsy was a faithful member of Calvary Messenger Ministries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allen Welch; and her only brother, Roger Dale Byrd.

Those left to cherish Patsy’s memory are her daughters, Melissa (Missy) French and husband, Harvie Lee of Bland, VA, and Tammy Welch Shrader of Bluefield, VA; grandchildren, Kristin French, Kayla French, Jennifer French, Allen Shrader and wife, Jasmine, and Mike Shrader; 7 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Brenda Blankenship and Carolyn Gillenwater.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Calvary Messenger Ministries, 2222 Princeton, Ave., Bluefield, WV 24701, with Rev. Mark Pennington officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA where family and friends will serve at pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the church. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Welch family.
