Otis Dempsey Duncan, 95, of Green Valley, WV, went home to be with Jesus his Lord, on November 1, 2024.
Born December 5, 1928, he was a son of the late Bogle H. and Ada G. Gillespie Duncan, in Bluefield, WV. He was a retired trailer truck driver for Smiths Transfer Corp., and an honorary retired member of the Teamster Union Local 175, Charleston, WV. Otis was a World War II Veteran, serving for the United States Navy as a gunner on board the U.S.S. Columbus, Ohio. He received the WWII Victory Medal for his bravery and honor. Otis was a life member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 9696 Bluefield, VA, a Master Mason of Bramwell Lodge 45 AF & AM Bramwell, WV, and Knight Templar KT-19, Bluefield, WV. Otis also attended Ceres Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents Otis was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Easter Mae Workman Duncan, son, Kenneth W. Duncan, sisters, Fannie Mae Marsico and Dorothy Palmer, and brothers, Clyde E. Duncan and Willard R. Duncan.
Those left to cherish Otis' memory are, his daughter, Brenda Gail Bowman and husband Larry of Princeton, WV.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV, at 2:00 PM with Rev. James Mooney officiating. The Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard will be preforming military graveside rites. A visitation will be held, one hour prior to services at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home.
