Opal Sizemore

Opal Lee Mitchem Sizemore, 91, of Northfork, WV passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022 at her home. Born December 17, 1931 in Wyoming County, WV, she was a daughter of the late Moody Carl and Gertrude Burks Mitchem. Opal was a member of Harbor Light Baptist Church and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Sizemore, one grandson, Brad Sizemore, 4 brothers, and 4 sisters.

Those left to cherish Opal’s memory are her sons, George (Sharon) Sizemore of Bluewell, WV, and Ricky (Virginia) Sizemore of Worth, WV; daughters, Karen (Hal) Lafferty who were also her caregivers, of Worth, WV, Glenna (Robert) Rose of McDowell, WV, and Linda (Paul) Bailey of Worth, WV; sisters, Glada Green of Huntington, WV, Aida Sizemore of Collinsville, VA, Aster (Aby) Austin of Herndon, WV, Bonnie (Harold Adkins of Salt Rock, WV, and Cathy (Bruce) Avants of Guthrie, OK; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great granddaughters.

Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, December 30, 2022 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Elder Robert Lane and Joel Lane officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.cravens-shires.com.
