Nola Zell Whittaker

Nola Zell Whittaker, 89 of Welch, WV passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Stonerise Nursing Home.

Born on October 6, 1932 in Hensley, WV she was the daughter of the late Ballard Preston and Nora Ellen England Burks. She had been a lifelong resident of Welch and was a faithful member of the Laurel Creek Church of God for many years. She was also a member of the Commission on Aging and a devoted homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Robert Whittaker; and siblings Tempa Burks Green, Princess Tiny Burks, Mamie Burks, Myrtle Mae Burks England, Willard Burks, Conley Benten Burks, Georgia Ann Burks Morgan, Luna Lou Burks Richardson, Glenna June Whittaker, Delphia Burks, Calvin Victor Burks, Earl Eli Burks, and Betty Darling Burks; grandson, Jason Douglas Whittaker; and a son in law, Jerry Cooper.

Survivors include her sons, Randall Whittaker and wife Michelle of Welch, WV, Robert Whittaker and wife Arlene of Welch, WV, and Roger Whittaker and wife Audrey of Princeton, WV; daughter Charlene Cooper of Hinton, WV; sister Susan Elizabeth Meadows; six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Charles Triplett officiating. Burial will follow at Palmer Cemetery in Princeton, WV. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
