Nellie Lee Powers

As the sun shone bright through the clouds and the birds sang outside her window, our precious, brave, beautiful mother and grandmother Nellie Lee Powers grew her wings and flew from this world bound for her heavenly home on Monday, June 11, 2018 surrounded by the ones she loved the most at her son’s home in Berwind, West Virginia.
Nellie was born on February 21, 1932 in Welch, West Virginia to the late Dent Powers and Grace Lee Gilbert Powers. Nellie was loved by everyone she knew; everywhere she went Nellie was a bright soul with a heart of gold and a smile that could brighten the darkest day. Nellie was a proud active member of the Word Assembly of God in War, WV for nearly thirty years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son Kenneth Wayne Powers; one brother Norman Dent Powers and a grandson Johnny Lee Powers, Jr.
Left with heavy hearts to cherish her memory is her son Johnny Lee Powers, Sr. of Berwind, WV; Granddaughters Sylvia Lee Melissa Rinehart and husband Jerry of Fayetteville, WV and DeShara Grace Lee Christian and husband Kenneth II of Canebrake, WV. Sisters Arbadella Arndt of Conover, North Carolina and Wanda Sue Behe of Maryland. Grandchildren Carter and Tanner Richardson; Morgan and Ryan Fernett of Fayetteville, WV; Kenneth III, Maddison and Tristian Christian of Canebrake, WV; Makenzi White of Bradshaw, WV. Nellie had a total of six grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Word Assembly of God in War, WV with Pastors Lawrence Muncy and Kenneth Cline officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV where Jerry Rinehart, Kenneth Christian, II, Eddie Goins and Brandon Vance will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer Johnny L. Powers., Sr.
The Powers family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Word Assembly of God in War, WV.
