She was born on a snowy Monday morning, February 6, 1939 in Nemours, WV, to the late George Emmett and Ethel Shrader Barrett. She was the granddaughter of Edward and Nannie Mathena Barrett and Hugh Dillion and Larissa Shrader. She was also preceded in death by her husband Roy C. Mitchell and brother, Harry “Buck” Barrett. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, but most importantly, she was a child of God. While our hearts are broken and our lives will experience an empty void, we have not lost her, we know where she is and that we will be reunited someday, for eternity. She previously worked at National Electric Coil in Bluefield, WV, and retired from the housekeeping department at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. One of her greatest joys in life was cooking for her kids and grandkids, who visited her on a daily basis. She loved to garden and can and look for bargains at the flea market. She was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church, Nemours, WV where she enjoyed the preaching of God’s word and the faith and fellowship of the congregation. She is survived by her two daughters; Kathy Miller and husband Ron of Defuniak Springs, FL, Melissa Sue Shupe and husband Richard of Bluefield, WV, and her son; Jack Mitchell and wife Theresa of Princeton, WV. She is also survived by her six grandsons; Jacob (Margo), Jimi Miller (Misty), Josh and John Mitchell (Sarah), Richard (Brittany), and Brandon Shupe (Ashley).
