Michael "Mike" Tessa

Michael “Mike” Reed Tessa, Sr., 71, of Bluefield, WV, passed Monday, March 25, 2024, at Encompass Health in Princeton, WV.

Born December 21, 1952, in Bluefield, WV, to the late Steve and Edna Maynor Tessa. Mike was a lifelong resident of Bluefield and a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was also a self-employed business owner.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Minne H. Tessa; son, Michael Reed Tessa Jr.; sister, Joyce Phelps; brother, Joe Tessa.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Tonya M. Tessa of Bluefield, WV; brothers, Willis (Jr.) Tessa, William (Bill) Tessa and wife Teresa, Dale Tessa and wife Debbie all of Bluefield, WV, and David Tessa and wife Lisa of Maybeury, WV; sisters, Drema Tessa, Karen Thompson and husband David, Cindy Ritchie and Sheri Blankenship and husband Mike, and Teressa Dillon, all of Bluefield, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor David Kirby officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park with Joe Hale, Brian Nunn, David Thompson Jr., Ashton Hayes, Jacob Dillon, and Dylan Maniscalco serving as pallbearers. Friends may call an hour prior to services, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
