Michael Louis Shoda was born June 13, 1943 in McComas, WV to John and Mary Shoda. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea. He worked for Consol for many years as a heavy equipment operator. He was also self-employed with Shoda Excavating in Bluewell, WV. Mike worked for many years in the area doing excavation work for many businesses and individuals. He especially enjoyed working with Seth Peters for many years on the Buffalo Trail project, where he did all the excavating work. He was preceded in death by his father John and his mother Mary. He is survived by his children Nikole Daye and husband Kevin of Bluefield, VA and Michael Shoda Jr and wife Jennifer of Bonita Beach, FL; he is also survived by his ex-wife Regina Shoda of Bluefield, VA as well as three sisters Helen and Douglas Kade of Michigan, Patricia and Billy Eudailey of Glen Allen, VA and Barbara and Jim Taylor of Short Pump, VA. He is also survived by his best friend Little Bit who was by his side until the end. Little Bit has gone to live on the farm with Jenny, Matt and Jordan Peters where she will be with all her doggie friends. Mike was very specific about his final arrangements and did not want a funeral and requested to be cremated. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
