Mary Ann Lockett

Mary Ann Lockett, 70, of Bluefield, WV, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Lewis Gale Hospital in Blacksburg, VA, after a brief illness.

Mary was born in Bluefield, WV. She was a daughter to the late Claude Marcus Sluss and Virginia Juanita Dillard Sluss. Mary grew up in Falls Mills, VA and Bluefield, WV. She attended Falls Mills Elementary, Graham Middle School, and Bluefield High School. She graduated from The National Business College in 2005 with a degree in Business Administration. She was formerly employed at the WV unemployment office, Industrial Gas & Supply Co., Woodtech, Bluefield Beverage, and Walmart. Mary was a fan of the Miami Dolphins and Bill Elliott. Mary loved the beach and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy Buchanon and Bonnie Shephard; and three brothers, Marcus Sluss, Allen Sluss, and Randy Sluss (infant).

She is survived by her two children, Elizabeth Lockett and Eddie Lockett, both of Bluefield; four grandchildren, Courtney (Tyler) Daniel of Dublin, VA, Austin Lockett of Bluefield, Tyler Lockett of Bluefield, and Kirsten Blankenship of Bluefield; one great granddaughter, Presleigh Daniel of Dublin, VA; brother, Ronnie (Tammie) Sluss of Dunnellon, FL; and her loving dog of 8 years, Cocoa.

Per Mary’s wishes, she will be cremated with no services at this time. A family and friends celebration of her life will be held later this summer.
