Mary Grace Butt

Mary passed on to her heavenly home Sunday, April 7, 2019. She was 90 years young the 26th day of December 2018. She was a resident of Princeton, West Virginia at the time of her passing.

Mary’s life was spent giving and caring for others. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Bluewell, West Virginia. Mary loved her church and church members very much. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for several years. Mary worked at S.S. Kresge Co. in Bluefield, West Virginia, Delco Remy in Anderson, Indiana and spent many years in nursing. Mary was a devoted wife and mother who was so very proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary was the daughter of the late Timothy Richard and Gracie Brooks Crouse of Tazewell, VA. Originating from a large family, she was preceded in death by siblings Vivian Claire Riley; Timothy John Crouse; Frances Marie Thompson; Helen Delois Young; and Kenneth Harold Crouse. She is survived by sister Altie Juanita White (Elisha White, Jr.).
Mary was married to Lee Grat Butt for 68 years until his death September 1, 2015. Mary is survived by her five children, Martin Butt (Susan Ehrlich), Noblesville, IN; Sandra Ellison (Sam), Decatur, AL; Connie Messick (Todd), Morgantown, IN; Christi Butt, Atlanta, GA; and Pam Stanley, Olive Branch, MS, as well as 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Mary will be fondly remembered by her family, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and dear friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 10:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Dewayne Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with family serving as pallbearers. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
